Kwinana Energy Recovery

Phronis Consulting provided onshore engineering support for the Kwinana Energy Recovery Facility in Western Australia — Australia’s first large-scale thermal waste-to-energy (W2E) plant. The facility processes 460,000 tonnes per year of residual waste and generates 38MW of baseload electricity for the Western Australian grid.

Biogas Projects

Phronis supported two anaerobic digestion projects that processed food waste streams to produce biomethane for power generation and gas grid connection. The projects utilised both tank-based and lagoon-based digesters (including Covered Anaerobic Lagoons (CAL)), with our role spanning project management, plant layout, process support, costings, procurement and electrical connection concepts.

Gympie Waste Options Strategy

Phronis supported Gympie Regional Council in addressing emerging landfill management pressures by developing a strategic reference document. The document consolidated current thinking on waste disposal and landfill reduction options, providing a structured framework to guide short, medium and long-term decision-making discussions.
